The Presses des Mines have published Producing, Storing and Using Hydrogen – Synthesis of the HyTREND Project, edited by Dr. Christian Beauger from the PERSEE Mines Paris research centre. The volume distills three years of collaborative research within H2MINES, the hydrogen-focused initiative of the Carnot M.I.N.E.S institute.
Dowel Innovation supported the conception of the white paper by conducting a structured series of interviews with research leaders, identifying key findings and future research directions, and facilitating a collective workshop to validate perspectives, map synergies across laboratories, and explore collaboration opportunities with industrial players and local authorities.
Coordinated by the PERSEE center at Mines Paris – PSL, HyTREND brings together multidisciplinary expertise from 21 research centers across 8 leading engineering schools. The project addresses the full hydrogen value chain—from low-carbon production (including new electrode materials for electrolysis, catalysts for biogas reforming, hydrogen from plastic waste, and process control), to storage (from salt caverns to solid materials), and use cases and valorisation (renewable integration via H₂, CO₂ capture and conversion, and eco-industrial synergies). The project concluded in 2023.
Aimed at industry stakeholders and decision-makers, the white paper offers an accessible overview of the scientific advances and concrete opportunities to accelerate the hydrogen economy.
