The BRIDGE Regulation Working Group (WG) was created at the very start of the BRIDGE initiative with a clear mission: to foster knowledge sharing among H2020 projects navigating the complex regulatory landscape of the energy sector.

Like the broader BRIDGE initiative, the Regulation WG structures its activities on a yearly basis. Over the past few years, it has tackled a wide range of regulatory topics, producing reports that extend beyond the BRIDGE community to inform and inspire a broader audience across Europe.

We’re proud to share that our colleague Karine Laffont-Eloire is co-chairing this working group and has co-authored the WG’s latest publication: “Report on Energy Sharing.” This report reviews the evolving regulatory frameworks for energy sharing and peer-to-peer models across 15 European countries, offering valuable insights into how these models are being developed and adopted.

This work closely connects with Dowel Innovation’s role in the LocalRES project, which focuses on deploying innovative local energy systems driven by Renewable Energy Communities (REC). Within LocalRES, Dowel has led the regulatory assessment task—analyzing and evaluating how different market architectures and legal frameworks can either enable or limit demonstration activities and associated use cases. The work pays special attention to REC-based flexibility and the incentives for consumers and other stakeholders.

Beyond this, Dowel also contributes to BRIDGE and CE4EUI initiatives, ensuring alignment between LocalRES and wider European collaboration efforts.
